Dear passengers, partners, and all people of good will,
After a few very intense and demanding days, now that emotions have at least slightly settled and the catamaran Melita has been successfully towed, we feel the need to briefly address you.
On Monday, June 16th, our catamaran Melita suffered a mishap. Although those moments were stressful and uncertain, the rescue operation was successful—thanks to the swift response, expert coordination, and composure of everyone involved.
First and foremost, we wish to express our deep gratitude to the Port Authority, whose teams reacted immediately and coordinated the rescue actions. A big thank you to Jadrolinija, and especially to the crew of the ferry Jadran, who unreservedly came to our aid.
We also thank our captain, Marko Jurlina, who, together with the Melita crew, remained calm, collected, and focused. Their professionalism and teamwork were crucial for maintaining safety on board.
We deeply appreciate the behavior of our passengers. In a situation that was uncomfortable for everyone, you showed calmness, understanding, and trust in the crew and the rescue services. Thank you for staying composed and patient despite everything.
Situations like this remind us how unpredictable the sea can be, but also how strong we are as a community when we act together. We are grateful that no one was injured and that everything ended in the best possible way under the circumstances.
Thank you to everyone who reached out, asked how we were, offered help, or simply sent a word of support.
We move forward, more grateful and more experienced.
Warm regards,
G&V Line Iadera
